Mitcham Private Hospital would like to Mr Vincent Yap, orthopaedic surgeon who has established his private practice in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Vincent has been in private practice for over 10 years.

He graduated from The University of Melbourne in 1995 and joined the Victorian-Tasmanian Orthopaedic Advanced Training Programme in 2002. During his training, he was awarded the Allan Frederick Dwyer Prize for the best research paper. In 2006, he was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and appointed as Orthopaedic Consultant at the Austin Health and Dandenong Hospital (Monash Health).

In 2007, Vincent was awarded the Smith & Nephew Fellowship to pursue further training in arthroplasty and sports trauma in the United Kingdom and Europe. In the UK, he was the Lower Limb Reconstruction Fellow at the Southwest London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC), which performs around 3000 arthroplasties per annum. Vincent also trained in

hip arthroscopy and early intervention hip surgery with Mr Richard Field, one of the leading hip surgeons in the UK. In Belgium, he was the Sports Orthopaedics and Knee Fellow with Professor Johan Bellemans, one of the leading knee surgeons in Europe.

Since Vincent’s return from Europe in 2008, he has resumed public appointments at the Austin Health and Dandenong Hospital (Monash Health).

He consults regularly at Mitcham Private. He has regular operating lists at Mitcham Private and Warringal Private.

He is multilingual and able to converse in mandarin, cantonese, hokkien, indonesian and malay.
