Mitcham Private Hospital would like to introduce, Dr Roonak Rahman-Pour, an obstetrician and gynaecologist based in Melbourne.
Her journey started after graduation from Tehran University of Medical Sciences. After three years of working in rural areas, she returned to Tehran and practised for ten years in one of the major tertiary hospitals in Iran, Milad Hospital, as well as several private hospitals.
She moved to Canada with her family in 2009, where she completed Canadian qualification exams and became a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada. She added to her clinical experience by attending Humber River Hospital in Toronto.
Dr Roonak moved permanently to Australia in 2015 and underwent two years of supervised practice in Canberra Tertiary Hospital and subsequently fellow of RANZCOG in 2017.
Dr Roonak worked as an obstetrician and gynaecologist in Mount Gambier, SA, for over five years before moving to Melbourne. In 2023, she commenced her public position at Eastern Health and currently works at Box Hill, William Angliss, and Healesville.
Dr Roonak mentors and trains Medical Students and RANZCOG registrars. She was a Women’s Health PBL tutor at Flinders University Rural School and was awarded Specialist Teacher of the Year in 2019 for excellence in clinical education.
She works with Safe Care Victoria to deliver better, safer healthcare to Victorians in public settings.
Dr Roonak started a private practice with her dedicated friend and colleague, Dr. Affie Tourani, to extend her care to a broader range of medical conditions and have a more patient-centred approach to women’s health, especially during the decision-making process.
