Mr L P (LP) Cheah studied Medicine at the University of Melbourne a scholarship and graduated with First Class Honours in 1997 as the top medical student with 23 prizes and awards including in Anatomy, Dermatology, Occupational Medicine and Surgery& Medicine.
He went on to England to further his surgical training and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in 2000. LP returned to Australia and completed his fellowship exams from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005.
Currently, LP is also an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Melbourne Medical School; surgical examiner; and tutor in the Minor Procedure Skills courses for GPs and to doctors taking the AMC exams.
LP has a special interest in short stay surgery including:

- Hernia repairs (mini incision - quicker recovery, smaller scar)
- Vasectomy using scalpel-free technique
- Ingrown toenails (Wedge resection)
- Hand surgery (Carpal tunnel release, Dupuytren’s contracture, Trigger finger& Ganglion)
- Haemorrhoids (Banding of haemorrhoids, haemorrhoidectomy)
- Gastroscopy & Colonoscopy (Capsule endoscopy)
- Dermatological Surgery (including Minor Plastic
- Surgery for skin cancers & other pigmented skin lesions including grafts and local flaps)
- Laparoscopic cholecystectomy & cholangiogram
- Breast surgery (including Correction of Nipple Inversion, Breast Cancer & follow-up of breast lumps and cysts)
- Thyroid surgery & follow-up of thyroid nodules/goitre
- Appendicectomy – open & laparoscopic
