Mitcham Private Hospital would like to introduce Associate Professor Daniel van Langenberg, Head of Inflammatory Bowel Disease service and a Senior Gastroenterologist at Eastern Health, Associate Professor at Monash University and Director of Bond Street Gastroenterology in private practice. He completed medical school (Monash 2001), then physician and gastroenterology training in Adelaide and Melbourne. In 2012 he completed his PhD (Monash), mentored by Professor Peter Gibson.
Daniel is one of Australia’s leading clinicians and researchers in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), conducting >2000 IBD consultations in private and public practice annually. He is renowned for providing innovative and personalised care and has a passion for achieving the best outcomes for his patients. Daniel’s other broader interests include functional (eg IBS) and a wide range of other gastrointestinal disorders.
He is a highly competent endoscopist, accredited in gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy and a keen advocate of the National Bowel Cancer screening program.
Daniel’s research has been recognized by the prestigious national Young Investigator Award at the annual Australian gastroenterology conference (AGW 2011) plus multiple other awards. Daniel has co-authored over 50 publications and is on the Editorial Board of multiple international gastroenterology journals. He is a member of the Australia & New Zealand IBD Consortium and has sat on the Australian IBD Association Executive Committee, overseeing National IBD interests, including writing the National IBD guidelines (GESA, 2017). Daniel is a sought after speaker on gastroenterology topics both nationally and internationally.
Daniel is happy to receive direct access referrals for gastroscopy and/or colonoscopy at Mitcham Private Hospital where he scopes on Monday afternoons, Tuesday mornings and some Saturday mornings.
