Mitcham Private Hospital Launches new Breast Service

Aug 28, 2013

Mitcham Private Hospital was delighted to announce the launch of its new Breast Service, Mitcham BreastCare. This service, unique in the local area, allows GPs to refer to the service for rapid expert assessment of any Breast problems. This includes breast lumps, breast pain, nipple discharge or any unexplained changes.

The patient will be seen by one of a team of three local Breast Surgeons within two working days of referral, and diagnostic imaging will occur on the same day as the consultation. The Radiology team, Imaging Associates Mitcham (based within Mitcham Private Hospital) are able to offer patients access to a technological breakthrough in breast cancer detection which delivers a full field 3D digital mammography.

Results are then reviewed by one of the team of Surgeons in conjunction with the Imaging team. Further diagnostic or intervention then occurs as appropriate. This allows a rapid one stop comprehensive service.

The service was initiated following feedback that there was often a delay between diagnostic testing and patient consultation, which can be an extremely stressful time for the patient. The three local surgeons involved in the service- Mr Sunil Jassal, Mr Michael Law and Mr David Stoney see this service as an opportunity to provide rapid access to high quality diagnostics and prompt consultation and treatment.

The service launched on the 11th June 2013.
