
Use of a gymnoball
During pregnancy
• Assists good postural alignment
• Provides deep support to the perineal region
• Is easier to get off than a normal chair
During labour
• Reduces muscle fatigue and tension
• Pelvis tilting/rocking movement to facilitate rotation and descent of baby
• Support while showering
You should contact the hospital if you experience
• Vaginal bleeding
• Persistent headaches
• Blurred vision or spots before your eyes
• Sharp pains in the abdomen (with or without bleeding)
• Pain or burning when you pass urine
• Irregular contractions at any time
• Sudden swelling of your face, hands, ankles or fingers
• Persistent itchy skin
• Any trauma such as serious fall or a car accident
• If there is a change to your baby’s normal movement patterns
