Monday to Friday 6.30 am to 8.30 pm
Saturday 7.00 am to 8.30 pm

CAR PARKING

As the Hospital has limited parking facilities for medical staff and visitors, for your safety, it is advisable to have someone drive you to the Hospital and to collect you following discharge. COMPLIMENTS / COMPLAINTS

We welcome compliments and feedback relating to your stay with us and we encourage all patients to complete the Patient Questionnaire that are available in the ward. This enables us to evaluate and improve our services to our patients. These questionnaires are anonymous, however, if you wish to write a specific and signed letter, your points will be acknowledged and dealt with appropriately. Patient satisfaction surveys are conducted independently of the hospital by Press Ganey Associates. If you are surveyed, your inclusion in these surveys is voluntary. We would appreciate your assistance if you are asked to participate.

If you are concerned about your care or the hospital services please do not hesitate to contact the Nursing Unit Manager on the ward, the Director of Nursing or the Chief Executive Officer. Complaints can be received by writing a letter, by telephone, in person or through our survey system.

IDENTIFICATION OF STAFF

All staff wear name badges as a means of identification and internal security. The badges show the staff member’s name and position.

INFECTION CONTROL

The Management and staff of Mitcham Private Hospital are committed to providing all patients with the highest quality care by promoting infection control.

Hand washing, high standards of housekeeping, the use of sterile techniques and equipment, are just a small part of the efforts our staff make to ensure your speedy recovery and to reduce the risk of infection. However, patients also have a vital role to play in reducing risk of infection to themselves and other patients.

Here are a few very simple guidelines. Please take a moment to read them: • Always wash your hands prior to leaving your room.

  • Personal hygiene is very important. Soap is readily available so that you can wash your hands after each visit to the toilet.
  • Always keep toiletries for your own use, do not share them with others.
  • Please feel free to tell your caregivers if you have any concerns regarding the cleanliness of your room and/or bathroom.
  • Please feel free to remind your caregivers to wash their hands or use antimicrobial hand rub/gel before attending to your care.
  • Please avoid sitting on the beds of other patients. Nursing staff are happy to provide you with a chair if required.

If you have any questions about infection control, the nursing staff will happily assist you.

Despite the implementation of an excellent Health Control program, the risk of developing an infection related to a surgical procedure or your hospital stay cannot be completely removed.

The following precautions are taken to minimise the risk of infection related to a surgical procedure.

  • Admission to hospital reduced to the shortest possible time prior to surgical procedure
  • Shower with anti-microbial skin solution prior to surgical procedure (relevant to specific types of procedures only)
  • Hair removal from operative site (this will be attended to by hospital staff)
  • Ensuring skin is intact at or adjacent to the operative site
  • Absence of local or systemic infection in any site of the patient

If you have any queries relating to Infection Control, the Infection Control Co-ordinator is available to answer these and can be contacted through the nurse caring for you.

Your co-operation in helping us to maintain a high standard of infection control is appreciated.
