When You Leave
Your doctor should already have told you how long you can expect to stay. Your discharge will be planned with you by your doctor and the nursing staff. Discharge time is 10.00am.
On discharge the ward nurse will inform you when to make appointments for follow up, order any medications you are to take home and make any other arrangements necessary for your after care.
If you have had a general anaesthetic or sedation you will need to be accompanied home by a responsible adult. You should not drive a car, operate machinery or domestic appliances, conduct important business or drink alcohol for at least 24 hours following your anaesthetic.
DISCHARGE
Your Doctor will determine the day of your discharge. We would appreciate it if you could arrange to vacate your room by 10.00 am. If this is not possible, please speak to the Unit Manager as soon as possible. A late discharge fee may apply if you remain later than the nominated discharge time. Please make arrangements with a member of your family or a friend to collect you. If required, a taxi can be organised by the front reception staff.
Before you leave the Hospital, please ensure that you have your personal belongings, medication, X-rays, Doctor’s appointment details, and any relevant instructions.
